About me

Hello, my name is Judi Turner, and I'm your Privately Practicing Endorsed Midwife based in Northam, WA - servicing the 'Wheatbelt'.

Please see my service area highlighted below:

I completed my Registered Nurse training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in 1982 and then my midwifery training at King Edward Memorial Hospital in 1989. I have worked in numerous metropolitan and rural settings, most recently with the Avon Valley Midwifery Group Practice (originally the Wheatbelt Midwifery Group Practice) in Northam, Western Australia, since 2017. During my years as a midwife, I have been the birthing midwife for 750 clients, and present at another 372 births, either as second midwife, or for vacuum, forcep or Caesarean births.

After nearly 46 years with the Health Department of WA, I decided in May 2025 to begin working as a Privately Practicing Endorsed Midwife, based in the Wheatbelt. My primary aim is to offer care to women who reside within 1 hour of Northam, supporting birth at your choice of home or hospital, with all antenatal and postnatal care provided in the comfort of your own home.

I am passionate about being a midwife. I believe that given the necessary education and support, birth can be a beautiful, powerful time in a woman’s life. My preference is for uninterrupted labour and birth in the setting of your choice. I aim to work with you and your birthing partner as a team, ensuring you are always aware of your choices and options - at every step of your parenting journey including before conception.

I am also a daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother in law and Gran. Interests other than family include cooking, crochet and camping and active involvement in the Bridgeley Church of Christ. We have lived in Northam since 2017, bought a house here in 2018 and are currently doing some extensions and renovations that have been on the drawing board ever since we moved in.
